Figs
A soft, sweet fruit with tiny edible seeds, eaten fresh or dried and used in tarts, cakes, jams and cookies.

- Baking ingredients and additives
Fresh figs are delicate and in season for a short time in summer and early fall; they pair well with honey, almonds, mascarpone and goat cheese. Dried figs are chewy and very sweet and are chopped into breads and fillings, as in fig bars.
Fresh figs are ripe when they feel soft and the skin begins to split slightly.
