Real store prices
Every month we read regular shelf prices for standard products at National Grocery Chain stores across the U.S. The typical price is the middle (median) store price, so one unusual store can't skew it.
Your state first
Add your ZIP code and we show your state when enough stores report, otherwise your region, otherwise the whole U.S. The page always says which one you're seeing.
Official numbers kept separate
Price trends use U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics average prices and the Consumer Price Index. They are labeled and never mixed into the store prices.
Storage from USDA
How long each item keeps comes from USDA's FoodKeeper data, with tips from USDA and FDA food safety pages, each linked to its source.
Store prices vary by brand, package size, store and loyalty offers; sale prices may need a store loyalty card or digital coupon. This page compares unit prices only.
