Cookie
A small, flat, sweet baked treat, made from a dough of flour, sugar and fat, that can be crisp, chewy or soft.

- Cakes, cookies, pastries and baked goods
- Persis, United Kingdom
Also called: cookies
Texture comes mostly from the ratio of ingredients. More brown sugar and melted butter give a chewier cookie; more white sugar and creamed butter give a crisper, flatter one; extra flour or chilling the dough limits spread.
Drop cookies, rolled and cut cookies, bar cookies and sliced icebox cookies are the main styles. Most bake at about 350 to 375°F (175 to 190°C) for 8 to 14 minutes and firm up as they cool on the pan.
