Cake
A sweet baked dessert made from a batter of flour, sugar, eggs and fat, raised by beaten air, baking powder or baking soda.

- Cakes, cookies, pastries and baked goods
Cakes fall into two broad families. Butter cakes are made by creaming fat and sugar, then adding eggs, flour and liquid; they are rich and tender. Foam cakes such as sponge, genoise and angel food rely mostly on whipped eggs for lift and are lighter.
Most cakes bake at about 325 to 350°F (165 to 175°C). A cake is done when a skewer comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs and the center springs back when pressed lightly.
