Chocolate fudge sauce
A thick, glossy chocolate sauce made with cocoa or chocolate, sugar, butter and cream that thickens as it cools.

- Fillings, creams, frostings and sauces
Fudge sauce is richer and heavier than a thin chocolate syrup. Sugar, cream and butter are simmered with cocoa powder or chopped chocolate until smooth, and a little corn syrup is often added to keep it glossy and stop the sugar from turning grainy.
The sauce pours warm and turns thick and chewy when it meets cold ice cream. It keeps in the refrigerator for a couple of weeks and is rewarmed gently before use. It is also good with brownies, cream puffs and banana splits.
