Chocolate sauce
A pourable chocolate sauce made from chocolate or cocoa with cream, milk or water and sugar, served warm over ice cream and desserts.

- Fillings, creams, frostings and sauces
Also called: hot fudge
A simple sauce is chopped chocolate melted into hot cream, a looser version of ganache. Hot fudge sauce is thicker and glossier, cooked with butter, sugar and often corn syrup, and firms up when it hits cold ice cream.
Cocoa-based sauces made with water and sugar are lighter and stay pourable when cold.
