Affogato
An Italian dessert of a scoop of gelato or ice cream with a shot of hot espresso poured over it.

- Frozen desserts and sweet beverages
- Italy
Affogato means drowned. Vanilla or fior di latte gelato is the classic choice, and the espresso is poured on at the table so the hot coffee and melting ice cream mix as it is eaten. A splash of liqueur or a crisp cookie on the side are common additions.
