About the drive
The Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail is a figure-eight of roads just north of Ormond Beach. It runs along the beach on A1A and comes back through the tree canopy of North Beach Street, Old Dixie Highway and Walter Boardman Lane.
Along the way are Tomoka, Bulow Creek and North Peninsula state parks, a long stretch of undeveloped Atlantic beach, and the Casements, a historic home in downtown Ormond Beach.
Sea turtles nest on these beaches in spring and summer, and right and humpback whales pass offshore during migration. Motorcyclists favor the shaded loop in the cooler months.
