Petal tip
A petal tip is a piping tip with a flattened, teardrop-shaped opening that pipes curved flower petals and ruffles.

- Decorating, finishing and presentation
A petal tip is a decorating tip with a wide, slanted opening, narrow at one end and wide at the other, made for piping flower petals. A university 4-H cake manual lists petal tips such as numbers 102, 103, 104 and 150, and describes curved petal tips including 59, 60, 61 and 62.
In use, the wide end of the tip touches the surface and the narrow end points up or away, so each squeeze lays down a petal. A half rose is built on a flower nail with petal tip 104, and the manual calls for stiff buttercream icing for the petals and thin icing for the sepals and calyx. Flowers with upright petals, such as roses, need stiff icing, while medium consistency suits flowers with petals that lie flat.
Petal tips also pipe ruffles and the borders of a cake.
