Also called: kulichi
Kulich is made from an enriched yeast dough flavored with saffron, cardamom, vanilla or citrus zest and studded with raisins, candied fruit and almonds. It bakes in tall cylindrical tins or coffee cans, which give it a high, domed shape. After cooling, the top is drizzled with white icing and decorated.
It is blessed in church before Easter and served with paskha, a molded sweet cheese dessert. The bread is sliced in rounds from the top, and the top is put back on to keep the rest fresh.
