Hot chocolate
A warm drink of milk mixed with melted chocolate or cocoa powder and sugar.

- Frozen desserts and sweet beverages
Also called: drinking chocolate
Hot cocoa is made with cocoa powder and sugar; drinking chocolate is made with melted chocolate and is richer and thicker. Whisking cocoa with a little hot milk first makes a smooth paste and stops lumps.
In Spain, very thick hot chocolate is served for dipping churros. Topped with whipped cream or marshmallows, it is a classic winter treat.
