Cake doughnut
A doughnut made from a sweet batter leavened with baking powder instead of yeast, giving a denser, cakey crumb.

- Cakes, cookies, pastries and baked goods
The batter, often made with buttermilk or sour cream and a little nutmeg, is chilled until firm enough to roll and cut, or piped straight into hot oil. Cake doughnuts fry at about 350 to 375°F (175 to 190°C) for 1 to 2 minutes per side and develop crisp, cracked edges.
They are popular coated in cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar or a thin glaze. Baked doughnuts use a similar batter in a doughnut pan.
