Falooda
A layered South Asian dessert drink of rose syrup, thin noodles, soaked basil seeds and cold milk, often topped with ice cream.

- Traditional and regional desserts
- Iran
Falooda is assembled in a tall glass. Rose syrup goes in first, followed by cooked vermicelli or cornstarch noodles, sweet basil seeds that swell into soft, jelly-like beads when soaked, sometimes cubes of jelly, then chilled sweetened milk. A scoop of ice cream or kulfi and chopped nuts finish it.
The drink came to South Asia from the Persian dessert faloodeh, which is quite different. Falooda is especially popular in Mumbai, Karachi, Hyderabad and Dhaka, and is a favorite in hot weather.
