About the drive

The Bayshore Heritage Byway follows New Jersey's side of the Delaware Bay from Mannington Township in Salem County down through Cumberland County to Cape May Point State Park. It moves between the shoreline and inland farm country, crossing the Salem, Cohansey and Maurice rivers.

Eleven communities along the way have historic districts, including Salem, Bridgeton, Greenwich, Mauricetown and Cape May. Short spurs lead to Fort Mott State Park, the Bayshore Center at Bivalve and East Point Lighthouse.

The bay's marshes and mud flats are a major stop for migrating shorebirds in spring and fall, and boardwalks and viewing platforms along the route let you watch them.
