Whipped cream frosting
A light frosting of whipped heavy cream, sweetened and stabilized so it holds its shape on cakes.

- Fillings, creams, frostings and sauces
Plain whipped cream weeps and softens within hours, so frostings are stabilized with gelatin, mascarpone, cream cheese, instant pudding mix or powdered sugar with cornstarch. Stabilized cream holds piped shapes for a day or more in the refrigerator.
It is much lighter and less sweet than buttercream, and is popular for fruit cakes, tres leches and strawberry shortcake cakes.
