Turnover
A pastry made by folding a square or circle of dough over a filling to form a triangle or half-moon, then sealing and baking or frying.

- Cakes, cookies, pastries and baked goods
Apple turnovers in puff pastry are the classic. The edges are brushed with water or egg and crimped with a fork so the filling doesn't leak, and slits are cut in the top to let steam out.
An egg wash and a sprinkle of sugar give a golden, shiny top. Fillings should be cooled and not too juicy.
