Dairy-free
Made without milk or any ingredient from milk, such as butter, cream, cheese or milk powder.

- Measurement, dietary and professional terminology
In dairy-free baking, plant-based butters or oils replace butter, and oat, soy, almond or coconut milk replace milk. Coconut cream can be whipped like heavy cream when well chilled, and many dark chocolates are naturally dairy-free.
Dairy-free is not the same as vegan, which also leaves out eggs and honey, and it is not the same as lactose-free, which may still contain milk proteins.
