Frozen Desserts ⅟12
Cheesecake & Custard Portion Calculator
Rich desserts are served smaller than cake. See how many slices a cheesecake, flan or custard tart gives, how many bars a pan cuts into, or servings from a trifle bowl, and how many to make for your guests.
How to use it
- Choose the dessert and its size.
- Pick tasting, standard or generous portions.
- Add your guest count to see how many to make, and use the cutting guide.
How it works
Round desserts are cut into wedges by the width at the edge: about 2¼ inches for a standard cheesecake slice, which gives 12 from a 9-inch cake. Bars are cut in a grid, and spooned desserts are portioned by volume.
Assumptions and limits
- Portions are typical for rich desserts; adjust for your crowd.
- Pans are standard sizes.
Tips
- Chill cheesecake overnight and cut with a hot, dry knife.
- For even slices, cut in half, then quarters, then divide each quarter.
- Plan a little extra when it's the only dessert.
