About the drive

The Molly Stark Byway follows Vermont Route 9 for 48 miles across southern Vermont between Brattleboro and Bennington. It traces the route General John Stark's army took home to New Hampshire after the Battle of Bennington in 1777.

From Bennington and its battle monument the road climbs through the Green Mountains to Woodford, the state's highest village, then on to Wilmington and Molly Stark State Park. East of Wilmington, the Hogback Mountain overlook looks out over three states before the road drops toward covered bridges and Brattleboro.
