How to use it

  1. Add each ingredient with its amount and unit.
  2. Enter the servings.
  3. Type what you paid where you know it.

How it works

Prices come from our Consumer Pricing Guide: the typical shelf price at National Grocery Chain stores for the latest month, and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics average price where one exists.

The two sources are shown side by side and never added together.

Cups are turned into weight with the same cup weights as our Cups to Grams Converter. An ingredient without a price says 'not priced yet'.

Assumptions and limits

  • U.S. prices; your store may differ.
  • Whole packages aren't counted, only what the recipe uses.
  • Prices update monthly.

Tips

  • Vanilla, nuts and chocolate are usually the biggest costs.
  • Buy staples in larger sizes to cut cost per bake.
  • Check the Pricing Guide for prices in your state.
