Bake Sale & Home Bakery Pricing

How do I price homemade baked goods? Add ingredients, packaging and your time, then add your margin: price = cost ÷ (1 − margin).

Selling cookies or cakes? Enter the batch cost, your time and packaging to see what each item costs you and what to charge for the margin you want.

How to use it

  1. Enter the batch's ingredient cost and how many items it makes.
  2. Add packaging, your time and pay rate.
  3. Set overhead and the profit margin you want.

How it works

Cost per item = (ingredients + hours × pay) × (1 + overhead) ÷ items + packaging.

Price = cost ÷ (1 − margin). A 30% margin means 30% of the price is profit.

These are your numbers; the tool doesn't suggest a market price.

Assumptions and limits

  • Batch cost from your receipts or our Recipe Cost Calculator.
