In 1997, Pieter's mother was persuaded to provide the down payment for 18 acres of farm ground. The farm’s stated goal is to produce food cooperatively and sustainably while selling locally. The farm's strawberries included berries that were not sprayed. Pieter Los describes himself as born in Scotland and raised in the Netherlands.
