Blender
An electric appliance with a tall jar and fast-spinning blades at the bottom, used to purée, liquefy and mix ingredients.

- Equipment, utensils and bakeware
In dessert making, blenders turn fruit into smooth purées and coulis, and they make milkshakes, smoothies and frozen drinks. They also mix thin batters such as crêpe batter quickly and smoothly, and some bakers use them to grind sugar finer.
A blender needs liquid to keep the ingredients moving around the blades, so it works best for pourable mixtures. For thick doughs, nut pastes and chopping, a food processor is usually the better choice.
