  • ¾ cup (150.0 g)granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup (53.0 g)light brown sugar, packed
  • 1.0 cup (240.0 ml)water
  • 1 ½ tsp (7.5 ml)pure vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp (2.5 ml)butter extract
  • ⅛ tsp (0.6 ml)pure almond extract
  • pinch of fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Combine both sugars and the water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium, stirring, until the sugar dissolves, then simmer gently for 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from the heat and let stand for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the vanilla, butter extract, almond extract and salt.
  5. Cool completely, pour into a clean bottle and refrigerate.

  • Skip real butter in the syrup: it hardens and separates in the fridge. Butter extract gives the flavor without the fat.
  • Top a sugar cookie latte with whipped cream and red and green sprinkles.
