About the drive

In a state known for flat horizons, the Sheyenne River Valley Scenic Byway drops into a wooded valley with a winding river. It was North Dakota's first national scenic byway, with dozens of interpretive panels along the way.

Valley City calls itself the City of Bridges, including the tall Hi-Line railroad bridge. North of town is Lake Ashtabula, behind Baldhill Dam. To the south, Fort Ransom State Park sits in the valley on the North Country Trail.

We haven't verified a complete route line for this byway, so the map shows the stops only.
