About the drive

New Jersey's first scenic byway follows Route 29 north from the tunnel in Trenton to Frenchtown, with the Delaware River and the Delaware and Raritan feeder canal in view for much of the way.

It passes the State Capitol and runs through Titusville, Lambertville, Stockton and Raven Rock. Washington Crossing State Park marks where Washington crossed the Delaware in 1776, and Bull's Island is reached by a footbridge.

About an hour of driving; the canal towpath alongside makes a good walk or bike ride.
