Chocolate ice cream
Ice cream flavored with cocoa powder, melted chocolate or both.

- Frozen desserts and sweet beverages
Cocoa powder gives a deep, dark chocolate flavor without adding too much fat; melted chocolate adds richness and a smoother, denser texture. Many recipes use both. Dutch-process cocoa gives a darker color and rounder flavor.
Because chocolate and cocoa absorb liquid and firm up when frozen, chocolate ice cream often needs a little more sugar or fat to stay scoopable.
