Chocolate chips
Small drops of chocolate made to hold their shape in the oven, used in cookies, muffins and bars.

Also called: chocolate morsels
Chocolate chips usually contain a little less cocoa butter than bar chocolate, and some include stabilizers, so they soften in the oven but keep their teardrop shape instead of melting into puddles. They come in semisweet, milk, dark and white versions, plus mini sizes.
Because they are made to hold their shape, chips don't melt as smoothly as bar chocolate. For ganache, glazes and sauces, chopped bar chocolate is a better choice.
