Instructions

  1. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise with a paring knife and scrape out the seeds with the back of the blade.
  2. Warm the maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat until it just begins to steam.
  3. Stir in the vanilla seeds and add the pod, then remove from the heat.
  4. Let steep for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for more flavor.
