Instructions

  1. Heat 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk until steaming but not boiling, about 160°F (71°C).
  2. Steep the Earl Grey tea bag in the hot milk for 5–7 minutes to infuse flavor, then remove the tea bag.
  3. Allow the milk to cool to room temperature, about 10 minutes.
  4. Add the cooled, Earl Grey-infused milk to a blender, followed by 2 cups (480 ml) vanilla ice cream and 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) pure vanilla extract.
  5. Blend on low for 10 seconds, then on medium-high for 20–30 seconds, just until thick and smooth. Avoid overblending.
  6. Check consistency. Add 1 tablespoon milk at a time if too thick, or 1/4 cup additional ice cream if too thin.
  7. Pour into a chilled 16-ounce glass and top with 2 tbsp (30 ml) whipped cream.
  8. Serve immediately with a wide straw and long spoon.

Tips

  • To avoid a warm shake, make sure the milk cools completely after steeping. Use freshly brewed Earl Grey for the best citrus bergamot flavor.
