Banana Cream Popsicles
What you need
- Popsicle molds (shaped cups that freeze the mix) and sticks
- Small cups and spoons for tasting
- Two measuring cups with spouts
- Extras like blueberries or mini chocolate chips
- Paper and a pencil for flavor notes
Steps
- Get readyWash your hands first and check every ingredient with your grown-up. Read both popsicle recipes and set out everything you need.
- BlendYour grown-up slices the fruit, runs the blender for each mix and pours each mix into its own measuring cup. Never put your hands or a spoon into the blender.
- Taste and testPour a spoonful of each mix into a tasting cup, then try a little of both stirred together. Write down what you like best.
- Invent your popPick a plan: stripes, a swirl or a mix. For stripes, pour one layer, freeze it for 30 minutes, then add the next, keeping the waiting mix in the fridge. For a swirl, pour in both and stir once with a stick. For a mix, stir both together in a cup, then pour.
- Name and freezeWrite a name for your flavor, like Sunrise Swirl. Push a stick into the middle of each pop, then freeze them until solid, which takes several hours or overnight.
- Taste dayRun the mold under warm water for a few seconds to loosen the pops. Taste and give your flavor a star rating.
Make it yours
- Drop a few blueberries into each mold first
- Make a three-stripe pop: strawberry, banana, strawberry
- Pick a taster, ask your grown-up to check their allergies, then let them taste your pop and guess what is in it
