About the drive

The Savannah River Scenic Byway runs north along the South Carolina side of the Savannah River valley, from the Georgia line near Clarks Hill through McCormick and Starr to Oakway, where it meets the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway.

FHWA describes rural Southern scenery, lake views and small towns where you might get a lesson in barbecue or fishing, with stories of the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

It takes about three hours, and pairs naturally with SC 11 at the north end.
