About the drive
This byway follows Lake Tahoe's eastern, Nevada shore for 28 miles on US 50 and State Route 28, from Stateline at the California line north to Crystal Bay.
US 50 tunnels through Cave Rock above the water. Farther north, Sand Harbor, part of Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, has clear water, sand and granite boulders, about three miles south of Incline Village.
Parking along Route 28 is limited and fills early in summer, so plan to arrive early for the beaches.
