Instructions

  1. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk to a blender, followed by 2 cups (480 ml) chocolate ice cream.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon (15 ml) chocolate syrup and 1/8 teaspoon (0.5 ml) peppermint extract and 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract to the blender.
  3. Blend on low for 10 seconds, then on medium-high for 20–30 seconds, just until thick and smooth. Avoid overblending.
  4. Check consistency. Add 1 tablespoon milk at a time if too thick, or 1/4 cup additional ice cream if too thin, blending briefly after each addition.
  5. Pour into a chilled 16-ounce glass and top with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) whipped cream and 1 teaspoon (5 g) chocolate shavings.
  6. Serve immediately with a wide straw and long spoon.

Tips

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute whole milk with almond or oat milk and use dairy-free chocolate ice cream and whipped topping. To intensify peppermint flavor, add crushed peppermint candies on top.
