Instructions

  1. Brew 1 shot (30 ml) of espresso and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) whole milk, 2 cups (480 ml) chocolate ice cream, 1 shot espresso, 1/3 cup (45 g) brownie pieces, and 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) pure vanilla extract to a blender.
  3. Blend on low for 10 seconds, then on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until thick and smooth. Avoid overblending to keep texture.
  4. Check consistency. Add 1 tablespoon milk at a time if too thick, or 1/4 cup additional ice cream if too thin; blend briefly after adjustments.
  5. Pour into a chilled 16-ounce glass and top with 2 tbsp (30 g) whipped cream and 1 tbsp (7 g) brownie crumbs.
  6. Serve immediately with a wide straw and a long spoon.

Tips

  • Use freshly brewed espresso to maintain a strong mocha flavor; to make ahead, prepare the shake and keep cold, adding whipped cream just before serving.
