Baking tools for this recipe

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F (175 C). Line a 9 by 13 inch (23 by 33 cm) pan with parchment, leaving an overhang.
  2. Whisk the flour, baking soda and salt together.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter with both sugars until smooth, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla.
  4. Stir in the flour mixture until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Press the dough evenly into the pan.
  6. Bake 26 to 30 minutes until golden at the edges and just set in the center.
  7. Cool completely in the pan, lift out by the parchment and cut into 24 bars.

Tips

  • Underbake slightly for chewy bars; they set as they cool.
  • Chill the pan in the freezer 15 minutes for neat cuts.
  • Cool the butter so the chips do not melt.
  • Do not eat the raw dough; raw flour and raw eggs can carry bacteria.
