Steps
- Pick a recipeChoose a recipe that fits your skills, like cookies, cupcakes or muffins. Read the whole thing out loud with your grown-up, start to finish.
- Write the listCheck the kitchen for each ingredient and tool, and write what you need to buy on the planner. Check every ingredient with your grown-up for allergies.
- Plan the timeAdd up the time for every part of the recipe, like mixing, chilling the dough, heating up the oven, baking and cooling. Pick a day and a start time and mark it on the calendar.
- Get your station readyOn bake day, wash your hands first. Set out every ingredient and tool before you begin, just like a real chef.
- Lead the bakeRead each step aloud and do it, asking your grown-up for help when you need it. Even when you are the leader, your grown-up does every hot, sharp or electric job, like the oven, the stove, sharp knives and the mixer. No tasting the raw dough or batter, and wash your hands again after you touch raw egg.
- Clean up and look backWash up together and tick off the clean-up checklist on the planner. Then talk about what went well and what you would change next time. Share your treats and take a bow.
Make it yours
- Make an invitation for someone to come taste
- Decorate the table to match your bake
