Sheet pan

A flat, rimmed metal baking pan used for cookies, sheet cakes, sheet pan desserts and roasting; also called a baking sheet.

  • Equipment, utensils and bakeware

Also called: baking sheet, half sheet pan

Sheet pans come in standard sizes. A half sheet pan, about 18 by 13 inches, is the workhorse of home baking; a quarter sheet is about 13 by 9 inches, and the full size is too large for most home ovens. Heavy-gauge aluminum heats evenly and resists warping.

A cookie sheet is a related pan with no rim or with only one raised edge, so cookies slide off easily. Lining either pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat prevents sticking and makes cleanup easier.
