Put this finish in a dessert

Choose the base and the rest of the parts from our recipes; the builder scales this one to fit and writes the shopping list.

Instructions

  1. Cut the top and bottom off each fruit, stand it up and cut away the peel and white pith in strips.
  2. Hold the fruit over a bowl and cut along both sides of each membrane to release the segments.
  3. Squeeze the leftover membranes over the segments, then stir in the sugar and vanilla.
  4. Drain the segments on a towel for a minute, then arrange them in a wheel over the dessert.

Tips

  • Blood oranges in winter make the prettiest wheel.
  • Drain well; citrus juice softens frosting fast.
