Instructions

  1. Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment, leaving an overhang on two sides.
  2. In a heavy saucepan, combine the condensed milk, chips, salt, and cream cheese. Stir over low heat until the chips melt and the mixture is smooth and thick, 5 to 7 minutes. Or microwave in 45-second bursts, stirring well each time.
  3. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
  4. Quickly fold in the freeze-dried blueberries.
  5. Spread evenly in the pan.
  6. Refrigerate until firm, at least 2 hours. Lift out using the parchment and cut into 1-inch squares.

Tips

  • Use chocolate chips or a good bar you like to eat; fudge made with candy coating tastes waxy.
  • Vanilla swap: use vanilla bean paste 1:1 in place of the extract for visible specks, or the seeds of 1 vanilla bean for each tablespoon of extract.
  • Best vanilla for this: Tahitian (floral, cherry, anise), or Madagascar (rich, creamy, classic). Any pure vanilla works.
  • Storage: Refrigerate airtight for up to 1 week.
